The critics awards have begun. They went all in for Tar today, awarding it Best Picture and Best Actress- Cate Blanchett is likely to sweep the critics awards this whole season. Can she do it with the industry awards too? Most think the performance is pretty undeniable. The out of left field pick (critics like to do that for at least some categories) was Keke Palmer for Nope in supporting actress. First of all, she’s lead in that. Second, that’s a very unlikely Oscar nomination, unless the movie gets a second look altogether. Maybe it should though. People seem to think Ke Huy Quan has the Supporting Actor trophy locked up at this early stage, but I have to say that seems like it’s for sentimental reasons. He was…fine in that movie, but award worthy? Really?
