Independent Spirit Awards Nominate 'Everything Everywhere,' 'Women Talking,' 'Tar'

The emerging favorites in the awards race hit their expected stops here, with Tar and Everything Everywhere All at Once coming on strong with noms for feature, director, actors and screenplay. Aftersun was big in the first feature categories and Women Talking was also honored with a lot of recognition. The snubs appear to be Brendan Fraser in The Whale and Danielle Deadwyler for Till, both movies with mixed reception but standout lead performances. I think if we’re going to go with genderless categories for acting, there’s no need to expand the field to ten nominees, which just seems like overkill. Less is more, people.
