The rest of the guilds came in tonight, and just in time for me to post my official Oscar predictions, starting tomorrow. Yay for Women Talking! I was somewhat surprised to see it take the Adapted Screenplay WGA award over Top Gun, but that combined with its Scripter win last night should secure the Oscar for the movie in this category. EEAO of course won original, to the surprise of no one, but its biggest competition, Banshees of Inisherin, wasn’t eligible here and that could be a closer race at the Oscars next week.

Meanwhile, at the ACE Eddie awards, the editors guild had their say and provided no real hints, as both Top Gun and Everything won in their respective categories. I thought it was between those two at the Oscars anyway, so this just confirmed that fact. It’s probably a coin toss.

Finally, at the American Society of Cinematographers, history was made as Mandy Walker became the first woman to win the cinematography award in the guild’s history. Elvis is a dark horse to take the category at the Oscars, up against All Quiet on the Western Front.
